Seaweed Heart is a hand drawn vector giclee print of sea wrack and it is based on sketches done in Cowaramup Bay, SW WA.
Seaweed is a blue carbon, quietly helping the planet survive human inhabitation. Sea Wrack is the mass of seaweeds and seagrasses that are cast ashore.
There's so much emotion and drama in seaweed and sea wrack- all tossed, entwined and wreathed. And its these connections between image and language, humanity and Nature , that i'm drawing on in Seaweed Heart.
The soft deep black of Seaweed Heart was only only achievable through the printing process and the addition of purple into the standard CMYK mix. The black is also purposefully fragile, the paper marks easily so the print must be handled with extra care.
          A reminder for how we should treat the planet.
